PechaKucha is back with an evening of art and design presentations
PechaKucha returns to Kalispell featuring an evening of speakers who each have just under 7 minutes or 400 seconds to present their thoughts during an event on Jan. 30.
Organized by the Kalispell PechaKucha chapter, the presentations cover the theme of art and design in the Flathead Valley. Presenters include local artists and makers such as Sydney Boveng, Ben Oblas, Alyssa Cordova, Annette Strean-Cornelius, Tarek Penser and Meredith Patterson.
Under the PechaKucha presentation format, each presenter goes through a slideshow of 20 images with 20 seconds to share each slide. Presenters share stories and ideas that are unique, inspiring and sometimes “totally wild,” sparking great conversations after the event, according to a press release from the Kalispell chapter.
Created in 2003, by two architects in Japan, the word “pechakucha” is Japanese for “chit chat,” according to www.pechakucha.com/about.
The storytelling begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Wachholz College Center on the Flathead Valley Community College campus, 795 Grandview Dr., Kalispell. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to support the local chapter and the international PechaKucha organization. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
The Kalispell chapter has hosted eight events starting in 2017. Videos of previous speakers are available at pechakucha.com/communities/kalispell.
