Lorelei 'Loree' Cumming, 73

| March 5, 2025 12:00 AM

Loree Lois (Lyngstad) Cumming, 73, passed away on the late evening of Feb. 2, 2025, with her husband Ed by her side at their Flathead River home.

Loree was born, Aug. 6, 1951, in Bottineau, North Dakota as the youngest child to Arthur and Charleen Lyngstad and was a longtime resident of Columbia Falls.

Graduating in 1969 from Columbia Falls High School and getting her accounting degree later in life after raising three children with her husband, Ed. Some of her favorite work years were with Steve Melby of Melby’s Home Interiors.

Loree enjoyed many things from singing everywhere she went to bowling, crafting, playing softball and camping, especially on their North Fork property. She also had a love for gardening with showy flowers and daylilies as tall as she was … all 5 feet 2 inches of her. She was a "jack of all trades," she could build and transform an aging house; to sew a one-of-a-kind prom dress, wedding dress or Halloween costume, which she did for family and friends and even a tuxedo for a dog. Sewing since junior high, there wasn’t a project on that machine that she couldn’t do.

Loree leaves behind her husband, Ed of 56 years and three children; son, Dennis and daughters, Kim Murphy and Michelle Kruse. Along with three grandchildren, Kyle and Alyssa Cumming and Gavin Murphy, her brother, Mike Lyngstad and sister, Dee Brown.

Rest in peace as you join the heavenly choir. There will be a memorial planned this summer. To send online condolences please visit www.columbiamortuary.com. Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is caring for the family.
