Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation hosts Mountainfilm on Tour
The Mountainfilm on Tour, a selection of culturally rich and adventure-packed documentary films, comes to Bigfork and Whitefish.
Curated from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado, these inspiring documentaries will be screened March 7 at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts and then heads to Whitefish March 14 at the O’Shaughnessy Cultural Arts Center. Both evenings will feature the same set of films that explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission of using the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.
The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation has hosted Mountainfilm on Tour since 2007 as a fundraiser for their hands-on stewardship projects in the 1.6-million-acre Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Each summer, the foundation organizes more than 40 Volunteer Adventure trips to open trails and restore habitat while providing low-cost opportunities for people to experience one of the remote wilderness area.
“While these films don’t take place in the Bob, they all resonate with our mission of connecting people with wilderness,” said foundation Operations Director Allison Siems. “Each story shares the common thread of appreciating the power that spending time in these beautiful, wild places can have – something we're lucky enough to witness on our stewardship trips every summer.”
“This tour is a chance to celebrate the wealth of public lands that we’re fortunate to have here in the Flathead, like the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. And hopefully, get people excited about getting out there and volunteering this summer to give back to the trails they love."
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the films start at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at www.bmwf.org/mountainfilm or at the door. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
