Beverly Mae (Boorman) Murphy, 82
Beverly Mae Murphy, 82, died peacefully on Feb. 7, 2025, in Alexandria, Virginia, from Lewy body dementia. She was born on July 6, 1942, in Kalispell, the daughter of Maurice E. Boorman and Lillian (Neas) Boorman.
Beverly attended Russell Elementary School, Central Junior High School, and Flathead County High School, all in Kalispell, graduating in 1960. She attended the University of Montana (then known as Montana State University) and graduated in 1964 with a degree in history. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. During the summers, while in college, she enjoyed working at the West Glacier Cafe.
After graduation from the university, she was employed by the National Security Agency. On June 24, 1967, she married James W. Murphy, Whitefish High School Class of 1959. Jim's 27 years in the Marine Corps led to many stateside moves for the couple, as well as assignments in Israel, Japan and the Philippines.
In 1979 Beverly earned her M.A. in library science from Long Island University, which led to a long and rewarding career with the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Jim of Alexandria, her sister, Barbara Boorman of Kalispell, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Lillian Boorman.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life is planned for a later date in Alexandria.
