Gallatin girls claim first AA championship

BOZEMAN — It took an extra frame but the Gallatin girls are champions.


The Raptors downed Billings West for the title 66-63 in overtime Saturday to become girls AA basketball champions for the first time in school history. 


Earlier int the day, Missoula Big Sky claimed third over Butte.

Jada Davis scored 21 points and had a chance to win it in regulation that came up short, but Gallatin held on in overtime to claim the girls AA State championship. 


Makayla Coleman added 19 for the Raptors. 


Brooklyn Pierce led the Golden Bears with 20 points and 10 rebounds. 


Missoula Big Sky 62, Butte 58


Avory Decoite scored 18 points and Kenzie Schmitz added 16 as Missoula Big Sky claimed third place. 


Kaydence Couture tallied 14 for the Eagles. 


Brityn Stewart led all scorers with 23 points for Butte, Cadence Graham had 16.
