Loyola cruises to Class B state title

MISSOULA — Loyola defended home turf for a dominating 91-57 win over Lodge Grass to wrap-up the Class B boys state tournament on Saturday. Loyola went 3-0 in the tournament to take home the title after a 25-1 season. 


Reynolds Johnston had a monster double-double, leading all players with 31 points and grabbing 13 boards. Loyola went 14-of-18 in the opening quarter and took a 34-11 lead into the second frame. 


Ethan Stack scored 18 points, Jamo Kendrick added 15 as four different players for Loyola scored double digits. JJ Bends led Lodge Grass with 16 points and Tj Gros Ventre added 14, making four shots from distance.

Three Forks 73, Malta 60 

Kanon Reichman scored 25 points, Aaron DeFrance added 24 on four made threes and the Three Fork boys beat Malta in the Class B state tournament consolation bracket to finish in third place on Saturday. 


Three Forks jumped out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter and outscored Malta 19-14 in the fourth to put the game away. Bodhi Brenden scored 30 for Malta, going 6-of-12 from beyond the arc and Treyton Wilke added 11. Hunter Feddes finished with 11 points and eight rebounds to help Three Forks reach the podium.

Huntley Project girls 65, Baker 50 

Paige Lofing scored 23 points, knocking down five 3-pointers to lead Huntley Project to win over Baker and finish atop the podium in Class B girls basketball for the state title. 


Carlei Plainfeather made four threes for the Red Devils to finish with 18 points as they outscored the Spartans 21-9 in the third quarter to take a 21-point lead into the final frame. 


Madison O’Connor led Baker with 17 points, making one of the team’s two 3-pointers. Hope Gonsioroski finished with a double-double for the Spartans, scoring 14 points and reeling in 10 rebounds.

Spencer Laird led all scorers with 27 points and 13 rebounds as Loyola took an 18-point lead into the break and cruised to a third-place victory over Malta in Class B girls basketball on Saturday.  


Drew Lamb scored 13 points for Loyola, making two shots from distance. Neva Jacobson led Malta with 15 points, including three 3-pointers and Denvyr Tuss finished with a double-double, scoring 1 and grabbing 10 boards.
