Aiden and Sadie Sweat pin down national titles
The Sweat family is racking up the wrestling titles.
Most recently it was Aiden Sweat, a junior at Glacier, who won his 16U weight class at the Junior National Folkstyle Championships last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa.
Sweat was third at 110 pounds at the State AA wrestling meet in February in Billings.
In January it was his younger sister Sadie who won a national folkstyle title, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was named the 10U Outstanding Wrestler at the meet.
It is believed Aiden and Sadie are Montana’s first to pull off the brother--and-sister title double.
Add that to Sadie Sweat’s Preseason Nationals title last October in Des Moines and she has a chance at another first: A USA Triple Crown Award, when she competes at the Women’s Freestyle Nationals in Spokane in April.
She would be the first female Montanan to pull off the triple and just the fourth from Montana, boy or girl, to accomplish the feat.
This weekend two younger Sweat brothers, Dylan and Connor, are competing in the men’s AAU State Folkstyle meet in Billings.
The pair have both already won state tiles in Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
