| March 23, 2025 12:00 AM

The Flathead Lake Cherry Growers Association holds its 87th annual cherry growers’ meeting on April 5 at the Yellow Bay Community Clubhouse.

The meeting is open to anyone interested in growing quality Flathead cherries. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at 9 a.m. at the clubhouse, 23429 Montana 35.

Keynote speaker, Tianna DuPont, associate professor and Washington State University extension specialist, will give an in-depth presentation on what soil health metrics are important for orchards, including management practices geared toward improving overall soil health. Emerging pathogen problems that growers need to watch for will also be discussed. Morning and afternoon sessions allow time for question and answers.

The day includes presentations of interest to local cherry growers and the opportunity to meet with agencies that connect with orchard owners. Networking with experienced Flathead cherry growers gives orchard owners an opportunity to learn how others develop successful orchard practices unique to this area.
