Mary Lavinia "Mina" (Warren) Henke 93

Mary Lavinia "Mina" (Warren) Henke passed on March 13, 2025. She was born Dec. 7, 1931, to Ray and Christina Warren in Redcliff, Colorado. She was the seventh in a family of nine children.

Mina graduated from Redcliff Union High School where she was a member of the Aloha Honor Society, senior class president, active in drama club and worked on the high school newspaper. Mina then attended Central Business School in Denver.

She married Marion Henke on April 15, 1951, in Redcliff and left the same day to start a new life in Homer, Alaska. Alaska was a whole new life experience where she quickly learned to dress and can many wild game species, catch, smoke and can a variety of seafood. She was renowned for her smoked salmon.

Her greatest joy was spending every winter at their trapping cabin off of Fox River up Kachemak Bay. She and Marion traveled many miles on snowshoes and skis.

Their daughter Christina was born in Seldovia, Alaska.

While in Homer Mina joined the Homemakers club. She was a charter member and officer of the Homer Emblem Club No. 350.

In 1962 Mina and Marion moved to Petersburg, Alaska. Their son David was born there. Mina was an active member of the Petersburg Emblem Club for 22 years.

In 1984 they moved to Kila. Mina became a member of Kalispell American Legion Auxiliary Unit 137 and Kalispell Eagles Auxiliary 234. She held positions as officers in both organizations.

Her greatest love was hiking which she did into her 80s. She was fondly called "the goat" by her fellow hikers.

She is survived by daughter Christina, son David (Niki), sister Ella, brother Gordon and numerous nieces and nephews.
