Return the favor by backing the Kalispell high school levy
I am of the belief that school levies and school taxes are my way to pay for the education that I received and not specifically paying for my children’s education. This is why it is important to continue funding schools even if you no longer or don’t have children that attend the school. You are paying into a system that you benefited from.
I would also like to say something about the Vocation Agriculture Center and the importance of its existence in our community and its importance to me, personally. I learned how to be a business owner at the VO-AG Center; I learned self-confidence from FFA and the VO-AG Center; I learned basic wood frame construction from the VO-AG Center; I learned how to weld at the VO-AG Center; I learned self-reliance and also how to ask for help from the VO-AG Center; I made lasting friendships at the VO-AG Center in the staff and faculty as well as my fellow students; I learned about the importance of land conservation from the VO-AG Center; I learned how to take care of livestock, grow food at small scale and large scale; I learned about food systems and commodity markets and finance at the VO-AG Center; I met my wife at the VO-AG Center.
The VO-AG Center and FFA program encouraged me to reach out and become part of my community whether it was from service opportunities or participating in school board meetings. The VO-AG Center taught me Robert’s Rules of Order and how public meetings work so that I could be effective in these meetings. This is a wonderful program that is continuing to provide immeasurable contributions to our youth and our community, and we cannot afford to lose it.
