EUREKA —Landon Shoemake and two relievers held Eureka to five hits, and he scored three times to help Polson beat the Lions 8-5 in high school baseball Thursday.

Cole Wadsworth had two hits, including a double, and scored twice for the Pirates, who opened up a 7-1 lead against Eureka pitcher Rowan Burow. Burow issued seven walks while striking out seven in four innings.

Eureka was able to push across three runs off Cole Wadsworth in the bottom of the seventh — Rogan Lytle tripled and came in on Emmett McKim’s single, and the Lions picked up two bases-loaded walks — before a double play ended it.

McKim had a double among his two hits, and had two runs batted in; Lytle also had two hits.

Shoemake went four innings, allowing three hits, two walks and one unearned run. He fanned nine. Cole Haggard threw the fifth, allowing four walks and a run. Wadsworth came on for Haggard in the sixth.
