These newer homes are situated fewer than 75 feet away from the shore of Whitefish River. The new Whitefish critical-areas law sets a 75-foot buffer on the Whitefish River. If any structure is proposed within 200 feet of the buffer on a property that abuts the river, a site stability analysis is required.
