Elrod School Principal Jeff Hornby reads “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” to a first-grade class Thursday morning. Kalispell schools joined hundreds of others across the nation as part of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record program, a national campaign to support literacy, in an effort to break the world record for the largest number of children participating in a read-aloud of the same book on the same day.
