Richard Meidlinger, 76, uses a fishing pole with wiring attached to pick up an empty beer can along U.S. 93 in Kalispell Wednesday morning. Meidlinger says he usually picks up enough cans to fill up one to three plastic bags, often along local highways. “Anything to get some exercise; it's just something to do,” Meidlinger said.
