An injured skater ices a sore ankle during practice on Monday, November 13, in Kalispell. According to Team Captain Kari Hammer, "Safety is a core focus of the team, both in-practice and in-game; we follow standard risk management guidelines and wear protective gear at all times while skating (which consists of a helmet, mouthguard, elbow pads, wrist guards, and knee pads.)  Even with those precautions, as with any sport, injuries are always a risk each player accepts.  If injured, skaters are encouraged to listen to their bodies, seek professional treatment as needed, and take appropriate rest and physical therapy until they are cleared to return.”(Brenda Ahearn/Daily Inter Lake)

Faces painted for war under their helmets and fishnet tights hugging their legs under kneepads, a team of women ranging in shape and size take to an oval track to play a game with the intensity of football on skates.
