A 1985 court decision said the turnout had to be closed and according to park officials, it was on August 9, 1985. Lawsuit shows Park Service agreed to close Haystack turnoff after 1982 death
When Kalispell resident Mary Handford heard about the death of a 15-year-old boy from Idaho July 31 at Haystack Creek in Glacier National Park, she said it turned her blood cold.
