Park Ranger Mercedes OGrady working at the intersection of Apgar Loop and Going-to-the-Sun Road on Monday, August 13, in Glacier National Park. Traffic attempting to go into the park had to be stopped at this point and rerouted through East Glacier if they were trying to reach Logan Pass, or told they would have to wait if they had left things behind Sunday night in the evacuations.

Historic cabins burn in Glacier blaze
Glacier National Park officials have confirmed that a number of structures were lost Sunday night as wind and extreme fire conditions caused the Howe Ridge Fire to swell to well over 1,500 acres.
