Anna Krueger leads a group of newly minted sixth graders through the halls of Kalispell Middle School on Wednesday, August 29 for Sixth Grade Day. For a number of years the school worked to create this day which is an opportunity for sixth graders to come to school, tour the building, figure out their lockers and a million other little details that can be overwhelming when the school is full and only two thirds of the students know where they are supposed to be going. “It’s a big adjustment coming here from the elementary schools,” said Principal Tryg Johnson. “We instituted this last year and found that we had a lot less tears and a lot less anxiety in our students. And I believe a great start leads to a great year.”
