Jill Evans, executive director of the Stumptown Historical Society, holds the original silver spike that was driven at the completion of the Great Northern Railway track into Kalispell on Jan. 1, 1892. The spike was made by melting down 8 silver dollars which were donated by the ladies of Kalispell and forged by George Stanford.
