After Andre Nagel Anderson and her husband, Ronald, moved to Kalispell they made a pilgrimage in 1999 to Mann Gulch and took photographs of Stanley Rebas cross and the cross of his friend, Joe Sylvia. The Mann Gulch fire blew up as winds intensified on an especially hot, dry August evening. Estimates suggest the lightning-caused blaze covered 3,000 acres in 10 minutes.
