Former outfitter pleads not guilty to Alaska grizzly killing
A former Hungry Horse guide and outfitter pleaded not guilty on all three counts of an indictment that charged him with illegally killing and transporting a brown bear in Alaska.
Grizzly hunting is trophy hunting
A final decision on the petitions to remove the grizzly bear from the list of threatened species and the protections of the Endangered Species Act (delisting) may come in June or early July. Currently, authority over grizzly bear management is vested in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. If the petitions are approved, management will be turned over to the states.
Federal court strikes down Flathead National Forest plan
A federal court magistrate has found that the Flathead National Forest has failed to consider the impacts of new road-building projects on grizzly bears and bull trout, saying the United States Forest Service is ignoring science in order to arrive at its approval for the project which has been contested since 2018.
Grizzly bears still trapped in their own end zone
Contrary to Dale Jorgenson’s assertions in his Jan. 18 letter to the editor “Grizzly bear population out of control,” we do not have “way too many grizzly bears in this country,” we are not “being over-run with grizzlies,” and we should not delist the grizzlies so we can “start hunting them again to thin out their numbers.”

Mr. Jorgenson makes some accurate observations — yet he attaches meanings to some of his facts that I suggest would benefit from additional information and discussion
