TRANSCRIPT

welcome everybody to the keeping score podcast from the daily Interlake and hagadone Sports Network I'm Josh Amit this week on the Range Riders recap we will be discussing the hardfought series they had against the Missoula paddle heads what to look forward to going ahead and the range Riders say goodbye to one of their longest tenur players so without further Ado let's get right into it on Tuesday the range Riders headed to Missoula to face the top rank Missoula paddleheads for a big six game series as the they trailed them by four games for the top seed in the Pioneer league in game one of the series the paddle heads won 16 to 10 despite a record-breaking performance by Christian kurtley ctle Homer not once not twice but three times to set the record for the most home runs in a game by a range Riders player he also drove in all 10 runs for the range Riders and finished the day with 14 total bases both of those were records as well unfortunately his performance wasn't enough as Missoula connected on four home runs and 17 hits for game one Victory Wednesday the range Riders pitchers held the top ranked Missoula offense to five runs but the paddle head still homward three times and a 5 to3 win the range riders only had four hits all game two of them being home runs by Ben Fitzgerald and Gabe how it was how's first home run of the Season as he rejoined the team last week he was with the range Riders last year and he led the team an on base percentage before joining the team this year Year from the Atlantic league and game three was another lowc scoring Affair as the paddleheads won again 6 to3 Andy Atwood the usual leadoff hitter for the range Riders was moved into the seventh spot and it seemed like the move paid off Atwood went two for four and connected on a home run after being held to 1 and N in his previous at bats of the series kurtley connected on a solo shot in the eighth his fourth home run of the series and tacked on to his team leading 11 home runs on the season Friday the range Riders lost in heartbreaking fashion they held the 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth before the paddleheads rally for three runs to not things up at 6 to6 Cameron Cowan came in for relief for the range Riders and loaded the bases with zero outs he would retire the next batter before Colin run stepped up to the plate and hit a game-winning base hit and the range Riders lost seven to six their fourth straight loss in game five of the series The Range Riders bats erupted for five home runs in a 14- 12 Victory to snap the four game skid Gabe Hal hit his second home run of the season and Tai pener who was activated off the iil last week connected on a home run is third of the Year Andy Atwood and Freddy Geo also homered for the range Riders and Christian Curley continued his Onslaught against the Missoula paddleheads pitching staff with two more home runs the range Riders Bullpen also did a great job combining for four scoreless Innings to maintain their lead and win the first first game of the series The Range Riders Bullpen also did a great job combining for four scoreless Innings to maintain their lead and win the first game of their series Sunday was my game of the week as the range Riders won again 14 to 12 the range Riders jumped out to an early 10 to4 lead after three Innings capped off by Gabe how's three-run home run and Tai Penner solo shot Nick Block also connected on a solo home run to extend the lead to 11 to4 and the range Riders were able to Stile The Comeback attempt and hold line to Victory that's it for the scoring recap of the week after the range Riders dropped the first four games they were able to bounce back and win the next two to end the road trip on a high note well sort of Sunday's game wasn't my game of the week because of the score the barrage of hits from the range Riders it was the team's resiliency that made it my game of the week after dropping the first three games they lost the fourth game on a walk-off and appeared like the paddleheads were just too much for the range Riders they answered back with a big win Saturday and Sunday's Victory shows the team's ability to adapt to changes which leads me to this week's portion of in case you missed it after Saturday's Victory it was announced by the range Rider social media team that Mason Dennison's contract had been purchased by Chicago White Socks which marked the end of his time with the team they went into Sunday's game without their team leader in average and stolen bases but the stats don't tell the whole St story Dennison was also the longest tenured player on the Range Riders who has been with the team since their inaugural season he is unquestionably a huge loss for the team the fan base and the way the team was able to Rally around him and win the game on Sunday without him there was huge here are some thoughts from manager Paul Fletcher who spoke about Mason Dennison earlier this season well you know Mason's kind of a versatile guy he kind of moved around right sometimes he was hitting at the top sometimes the bottom in between and and we've kind of done that to him a little bit here this year just to try and see where we need him the most and he's he's very adapt to it he doesn't get bothered by it he just goes out and plays hard every day he's he's one of those guys that really has a lot of skill set that that I think transfers to the next level um but for here he's he's just a wonderful guy do whatever you need him to do great team player Dennison was also a player who played all over the field and all throughout the lineup Gabe how will be most likely called upon to fill that void as the everyday short stop a role he is familiar with as I mentioned before he was with the team last season in that role Tai Penner will also be expected to fill that void in the infield as Ben fitzg will most likely be called upon to play more time and left as they want to keep a good balanced lineup it will be a team effort to replace the role Dennison has played over the last three seasons also in case you miss it Christian kirtley had a huge week against the pads hting six home runs and Joven 16 and he's now the team leader in home runs in RBIs on the season I would not be surprised at all if he is named the PB player of the week looking ahead the range drivers open a six-game series with an all too familiar opponent the Great Falls voyagers this will be the fourth series these two teams have sored off against each other and the rain drivers are hoping for similar results they had in the previous series two weeks ago the range Riders lost the first game of the series against Great Falls before rattling off five straight wins the range Riders pitching was dominant over that winning streak and will be needed again if they hope to maintain their spot in the second seed there are 12 games left of the first half of the season with the top two seeds guaranteed a playoff spot the team trailing the range Riders currently is the Boise Hawks who the range Riders face in the final six games of the first half of the Season it could be a big series to determine which of those two teams locks in a playoff spot that's it for this week's edition of the range Riders recap best of luck to Mason Dennison we wish you all the success in the next step of your baseball career make sure you make it to Glacier Bank Park this week as this series against the Great Falls voyagers will conclude the first half at home for the keeping score podcast in Daily Interlake I'm Josh AMC and until next time take care
