TRANSCRIPT

This is the 16th episode of the Daily Inter Lake’s Local Events podcast! 16 is my lucky number and I am honored to be sharing about the great events and gathering opportunities in Northwest Montana. It sure is a great place to live and play and I hope you’ve been having fun following along.

Let’s find your next best time!

Save the Date for the Daily Inter Lake’s next Press Play lunch concert! We welcome Big Sky City Lights into our pressroom / concert venue on Friday, September 6th. Susan O’Dea and Nick Spear make up the cross-country duo of Big Sky City Lights and I am excited to sway to their “cinematic folk”. If you’re a Daily Inter Lake subscriber, reserve your seat at FlatheadTickets.com. And if you’re not, give us a call and sign up so you too can enjoy this unique listening opportunity at your friendly local newspaper! The performance by Big Sky City Lights will be live streamed on the Daily Inter Lake’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Keep an eye out for Taylor Inman’s interview with the band and catch this and all past Press Play performances on our YouTube channel or your favorite podcast app.

“I get the wrong idea only when it suits me” quips Clint Eastwood in the 1964 classic “A Fistful of Dollars”. Join the Northwest Montana History Museum on Tuesday August 27th for their monthly Movie Night at the Museum. The show starts at 7:00 pm and refreshments are available for purchase.

The Whitefish Community Center and The Making Place team up on Wednesday August 28th from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for a Craft Supplies Swap & Sale. Donate, buy and swap art supplies in support of raising money for the fledgling Making Place. There’s a lot to know about this craft supply sale, so follow the link in the description to get all the details.

Join Krista Sanderson at the Swan River Community Hall in Bigfork on Thursday August 29th at 10:30 am for Chair Yoga. Suitable for those recovering from injury or for those who find it difficult to get down on the floor, this offering adds accessibility to your yoga practice. Practice breathwork and let your stress fade away in this fun class.

Thursdays are for Columbia Falls Community Market from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. This week stop by the Daily Inter Lake tent and see me! Let me know how much you love this podcast and I’ll share a free newspaper with you! You should also stop by the DREAM Adaptive booth as they are the market’s featured nonprofit for the week. Get there early to browse 92 local businesses and listen to the tunes of Swift Current.

The Wachholz College center will screen the Flathead Valley premier of “Bring Them Home” on Thursday August 29th at 5:00 pm. Oscar-nominated Blackfeet and Nez Perce actor Lily Gladstone narrates the film and hip-hop artist Supaman shares a special live performance. “Bring Them Home” tells the story of a small group of Blackfeet people and their mission to establish the first wild buffalo herd on their ancestral territory since the species’ near extinction a century ago. This is a not-to-miss event!

The Conrad Mansion Museum hosts an Historical Clothing Tour on Thursday August 29th at 5:30 pm. This year’s tour focuses on Embellishment: The Decorated Dress as fashion historian Teresa Knutson schools you on nineteenth and twentieth century fashion. Any opportunity to visit the Conrad Mansion is a good day in my book and it’s a real treat to see their special collections and learn more about the Conrad family and their lives in a young Kalispell.

Once again, the Hockaday Museum is hosting their Plein Air Glacier event. This last week of August you may come across artists painting outdoors in Glacier National Park. Artists travel from near and far to show off their talents and support the Hockaday Museum. Their works are collected and then shown at the Hockaday’s Opening Reception and Sale on Saturday August 31st from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. If you can’t make the opening reception, all works from Plein Air Glacier will be on display at the Hockaday Museum through October 5th.

Thanks as always for tuning in to the Daily Inter Lake’s Local Events podcast. Peek at our description to find the links to all the events shared in this episode or stop by dailyinterlake.com/events to find all the great things happening in your backyard. Add your event while you’re there!
