No. 25464 SECTION 00100 INVITATION TO BID Separate sealed bids for construction of Nucleus Ave Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project will be received by City of Columbia Falls at the office of City of Columbia Falls City Council Chambers 130 6th Street West, until 3:00 PM local time on July 10, 2018, and then publicly opened and read aloud. All sealed Bids shall be address to the City Manager, 130 6th Street West, Room A, Columbia Falls, MT, 59912 and titled Nucleus Ave Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project. The project generally consists of, but is not necessarily limited to, the following major items: Pedestrian safety improvements at the intersections of Nucleus Ave at 6th Street, Nucleus Ave at 7th Street, and 6th Street East at 1st Ave East. Construction will include removal of existing concrete and asphalt, placing new concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, stormwater improvements and incidental asphalt paving and landscaping. The project consists of three (3) bid schedules for the work. The Contract Documents consisting of half-size Drawings and Project Manual may be viewed or obtained by either electronic documents on-line, or a hard copy at the office of Morrison-Maierle, Inc., . CONTRACTOR(s) and any of the CONTRACTOR's subcontractors doing work on this project will be required to obtain registration with the Montana Department of Labor and Industry (DLI). CONTRACTOR's are not required to have registered with the DLI prior to bidding on this project, but must have registered prior to execution of the Construction Agreement. All laborers and mechanics employed by CONTRACTOR(s) or subcontractors in performance of the construction work shall be paid wages at rates as may be required by the laws of the state of Montana in accordance with the schedule of Montana Prevailing Wage Rates established by the Montana Department of Labor and Industry included in the Project Manual. The CONTRACTOR must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Each bid or proposal must be accompanied by a Certified Check, Cashier's Check, or Bid Bond payable to City of Columbia Falls, in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid. Successful BIDDERS shall furnish an approved Construction Performance Bond and a Construction Payment Bond, each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount. Insurance as required shall be provided by the successful BIDDER(s) and a certificate(s) of that insurance shall be provided. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled time for the public opening of the Bids specified above. The right is reserved to reject any or all Proposals received, to waive informalities, to postpone the award of the contract for a period of not to exceed sixty (60), and to accept the lowest responsive and responsible bid which is in the best interest of the City of Columbia Falls. SIDNEY – Mady Hoerner had 13 kills and Dillen Hoerner and Hannah Schweikert combined for another 15 as Columbia Falls beat Havre in straight sets Thursday to open the State A volleyball tournament.

Sevin Reign Norwood, son of Clint Winkle and Tezralee N. Santos of Columbia Falls, was born Dec. 28 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

John Wayne Blake, 45

John Wayne Blake, 45, passed away suddenly on April 20, 2010, in Phoenix, from a massive stroke. He was born on July 28, 1964, in Kalispell. He graduated from high school in Richland, Wash., and received his bachelor s degree in computer programming from DeVry University in Phoenix. John had a career spanning 20 years in the avionics software field, both commercial and military. He worked at General Dynamics in Dallas, and most recently for Belcan Engineering in Phoenix. He was a brilliant engineer and good friend to many. John enjoyed many hobbies and excelled in sports, including table tennis (once ranked fifth in the world), and games of chance. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Blair; brother, Michael Blake; and his grandparents. Those left to cherish his memory are father, Wayne Blake; and stepmother, Carol; Warner Blake, James Blair, Michelle Sevesind, Paul Ulberg, Lorena Blake, Travis Blake, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends, Susan Stuart and Scott Miles. A memorial service and burial will be at a later date at Sunnyside Cemetery in Richland.

Alarms

The Flathead County Alcohol Enforcement Team arrested 20 minors for possession of alcohol over the weekend. On Friday, three youths were arrested at an event at Majestic Valley Arena. On Saturday, 16 youths were cited and released to a responsible adult after officers responded to a house party on Vonderheide Lane. One of the kids was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. On Sunday, a 20-year-old woman was arrested on First Avenue West in Kalispell. The 21-year-old man who provided the woman with the alcohol was also cited.
