Rugby: Black and Blue slips at state tourney

HELENA — The Kalispell Black and Blue couldn’t find its footing on a mud-soaked pitch, falling flat against fifth-seeded Helena 25-20 in the semifinals at the MYRA state rugby championships on Saturday. Helena would go on to beat second-seeded Bitterroot 27-20 to win the state title.

She was born on July 25, 1913, in Palms, Calif., to Nicasio Latasa and Eugenia Ardanaz Latasa, the first of seven children. The family farmed in the Los Angeles area where Angie was recruited at an early age as a farm hand.

Rodney Allen Nelson, 52, passed away on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at his residence as a result of an accidental fire. He was born on May 25, 1957, in Bottineau, N.D., to Oscar Melvin and Zelda Celeste (Anseth) Nelson. Rodney was a giver and an animal lover. He stood up for anything that he believed in. Rodney was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his father, Oscar Nelson, of Nampa, Idaho; a brother, Roger Nelson, of Kalispell; his brother Roger s children, Kevin Nelson and family, of Fort Lee, Va., Kara and family of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Karla and family of California, Krista and family, and Karrie and family, both of Idaho Falls; sister, Vicky Hannon, and husband, Tim, and their children, James, Jessica and Timmy, all of Kalispell; and many other relatives from Idaho, North Dakota and Canada. Memorial services for Rodney will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Chapel. A reception will follow at the Calvary Lutheran Church with potluck. Alice Stewart McNall, 95

Alice Stewart McNall, 95, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, around 6:50 p.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born the fifth of seven children, in Benge, Wash., Adams County, to Forby and Josephine Stewart, on Sept. 19, 1914. Theo Mac McNalI and Alice were married Sept. 29, 1935, in Spokane. They had a daughter, Donna Jo, and a son, Theo Clyde Jr. Both Mac and Alice loved family and being with friends. They moved to southern California in 1952 and became avid water skiers. Alice moved back to Montana after Mac died and settled in Columbia Falls. She enjoyed being a part of her church, Columbia Falls Senior Center, Klothes Kloset and her family. She leaves her two children, six grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. There will be a celebration of her life at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Our Savior s Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Alice s name can be made to Our Savior s Lutheran Church, or to Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell.

Marian Jane Bucholz, 92, passed away on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Health Center Northwest in Kalispell. She was born on May 21, 1917, in Havre, to Joseph and Jennie (Miller) Hewitson. Marian graduated from Flathead High School in 1939. She graduated from St. Patrick in Missoula with a degree in nursing. Marian was married to Arvade H. Bucholz on March 15, 1945, in California; they were happily married for 50 years. She worked for Peralta Hospital in California as both day and night supervisor. Marian loved volunteering with RSVP; she volunteered so much time she received a certificate from President George W. Bush. Marian loved traveling. She traveled all over the world with her husband Arvade, who worked for Pan American. She wrote her own biography of her travels. She loved reading and was a self-taught gourmet cook.
