Winston Manicke, 93
Winston Manicke, 93, of Whitefish, died Aug. 28, 2019 at North Valley Hospital. Winston is survived by his wife Rose Manicke, sons Fred Manicke, Brian Manicke, daughter Shelly Solle and granddaughter Contessa Birky. No services are scheduled. Austin Funeral and Cremation Services in Whitefish is caring for Winston’s family.

Wrapping up construction at West Reserve and U.S. 93

US Highway 93 Under Construction
Construction crews begin milling US Highway 93 southbound on Wednesday afternoon near Happy Valley. Motorists are advised to expect reduced speeds, fresh oil, loose gravel, single lane closures, grooved surfaces, temporary traffic lights, flaggers and short delays.

Area residents and trucking-industry representatives met with the state Department of Transportation this week to talk about possible truck restrictions on Montana 35, but transportation director Jim Lynch didn't commit to a definite course of action.
The Healing Wall
Approximately 60 motorcycle honor guards escorted The Healing Wall, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, through downtown Kalispell on Tuesday afternoon. The wall will be set up at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish from Thursday through Sunday and be open for public viewing 24 hours a day. Thursday through Saturday, there will be a shuttle service from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with overflow parking at First Baptist Church on U.S. 93 south of Whitefish. On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., overflow parking will be at the old Wendy’s parking lot on U.S. 93.
