LETTER: Gun 'control' may just be necessary
It could never have been my desire to create a carbine-toting feud amidst the opinion pages of this fine newspaper when I humbly appealed to the populace out there to reconsider the merits of gun “control.”

I just don’t think it is right our schools try to maximize their chances of passing their bond issue requests by techniques which suppress debate and minimizes voter participation? For that reason (and others) I will be voting “no” when I cast my ballot in May.

It’s somewhat easy for us Montanans to grow complacent in the debate over border walls. Shucks ... we have our lovely screen of mountains and a sparse population to diminish the urgency and relevance of the matter. Yes, the “handshake agreement” based on homespun eye contact and seasoned character recognition is giving way to trust based on lawyers, paperwork, and second, third, and even fourth-party representation. Yet a thin vestige of flesh and blood interaction still exists, and keeps our unique country corridor connected to values our beloved predecessors cherished.

I live a few blocks from the proposed installation of a roundabout for the Woodland Park intersection. I traverse that intersection four or more times per day, almost every day of the year. My travels are at varied times during each day. A roundabout would be disastrous for motorists and pedestrians.
