Leonard "The Colonel" Zalewski passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. For 36 years, he was the adoring husband of JoAn Baldwin Zalewski. He is survived by his daughter, Lynne Britz; and his two sons, Gary Zalewski and Alan Zalewski. Leonard's grandchildren are Rabia Zalewski, Heather Zalewski Young, Justin Zalewski and Peter Zalewski.

Jeanette R. Mitchell, 71

Jeanette R. Mitchell, 71, of Henderson, Nev., passed away Oct. 4, 2009. She was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Auburn, Wash, and was raised in Washington state. Jeanette married Donald A. Mitchell in 1958. She finished her teaching degree in 1962, and taught for one year. She raised her family, then returned to work in a Christian bookstore. She then went into furniture sales, and later became a joint partner in a small retail business. Her working career ended managing an assisted living facility, from which she retired. Jeanette was a member of the Mayflower Society, PEO, Alpha Zeta Delta Sorority and Central Christian Church. She loved the Lord! Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anne Cooper. She is survived by her husband, Donald Mitchell; children, Brett and Karen Mitchell, Jeffrey and Vada Mitchell and Erin and Gary Wilken; grandchildren, Samantha and Monte Gluck, Sean and Bwalya McCormick, and Delbie and Claire Wilken; one great-grandson, Isaac Gluck; and sister, Margaret and John Addicott. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive, in Henderson. Donations can be made to St. Rose-Siena Hospital in Henderson, or to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
