Bars and stripes forever for pair

Columbia Falls police offered temporary accommodations to two friends Tuesday, although they stayed in different jail cells. The first came into custody after a 1:30 a.m. traffic stop on U.S. 2 in front of the Town Pump, where a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The second arrived shortly after 1 p.m., when a 19-year-old woman came to bail him out and police discovered she was wanted on a traffic warrant out of Lake County.

Karen Elise Barbee, 75, died at her home Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, in Kalispell.She is survived by her husband, Wendell J. Barbee, of Kalispell; and three sons, Charles Barbee of New York, Dan Barbee of California, and Christopher Barbee of New Mexico. There will be no public services or visitation, but friends and neighbors are invited to stop by the family home to visit with the family from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. Lavonne Burgard works on a painting for the upcoming Taste of Kalispell Invitational Art Exhibition, which opens this Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Museum at Central School in Kalispell. More than 20 local artists were asked to create pieces for the show depicting contemporary Kalispell. Burgard chose yarn bombing at the Hockaday Museum of Art for her subject. Taste of Kalispell is Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. The art work will remain on display in the main entrance hall of the Museum at Central School through Sept. 30.
