Dana A. Gonser, 40
Army veteran and former Kalispell resident Sgt. Dana A. Gonser, 40, of Fowler, Ind., died April 15, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, as a result of injuries received in a car/motorcycle accident in Fowler. Funeral services with full Masonic and military honors were held in Oxford, Ind., with burial in Mound Cemetery in Pine Village, Ind. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn; two daughters, Ember D. and Hailey N. Gonser, of Fowler; stepdaughter, Kassie R. Smith, of Lafayette, Ind.; and his parents, James E. and Cynthia L. Gonser, of Kalispell. Dana was born Oct. 17, 1969, in Billings, where he graduated from Billings Senior High School. He attended ITT in Phoenix, and received his associate s degree in drafting and architectural design, as well as graduating from various military training classes. He lived in Billings, Butte, Great Falls and Kalispell before moving to Fowler in 2006. Mr. Gonser served as a unit administrator for the 209th Quartermaster Co., stationed in Lafayette, and held the rank of sergeant in the Army Reserves. He spent five years on active duty with the Army at Fort Lewis, Wash., and served in Iraq from February 2002 until April 2003 with the 889th Unit of the 101st Airborne Division. He married Kathryn A. Toy in Kalispell on Dec. 10, 2001. He was a loving husband and devoted father of two daughters, Ember, age 7, and Hailey, age 6. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bigfork. Jerry Scott's 'spirit was lifted up to almighty God' on Sept. 10, 2008. Jerry was born June 3, 1941, in Kalispell to parents Gary L. Scott and Luella B. (Rickard) Scott. He graduated in 1959 from Whitefish High School.

Rita Marie (Hewitt) Kellenberger, 52, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She was born May 5, 1955, in Helena, the daughter of Thomas L. and Dorothy F. Hewitt.

Lowe's on track for January opening
The new Lowe's Home Improvement store in Kalispell is on track for an early January opening, but plans for a new, larger Costco store have been pushed back a few months.
Margaret L. "Joni" Johnson, 93, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1911, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Charles H. and Cora E. (Knollenberg) Johntz.

Ardith J. Clare, 84
Ardith J. Clare passed away quietly on April 19, 2015, after a short illness in Salinas, California, where she had been living with her son Jeffrey Clare. Ardith was 84 years old.
Gerald O. Jerry Willett, 80
Longtime Alaskan and Homer resident, Gerald O. Jerry Willett died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at L/V the Ark in Homer. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Hickerson Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Willett was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Park Rapid, Minn. He was a self-employed truck driver, logger, mechanic and owner/operator of the Ivery Queen Charters. He moved to Alaska in 1975 and had lived in North Pole, Alaska, before moving to Homer. Mr. Willett enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing and watching his grandchildren. Mr. Willett was preceded in death by his son, Wade; his parents, Sidney and Mary Willett; a sister, Lucille Willett; and a grandson, Joey Weyrauch. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Willett, of Homer; daughters and sons-in-law, Geri and Dave Moore of Spokane, Arlene and Cary Weyrauch of Kalispell, Mary and Matt Mattingley of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Robin and John Weymiller of Wisconsin; son, Rod Willett, of Homer; daughter-in-law, Robyn WiIIett, and husband, Mike Hamilton, of Fairbanks; grandchildren, Jerry Smith and wife Veronica of Louisiana, Mike and Bill Smith, both of Idaho, Andy Weyrauch and wife Alyssa of Vancouver, British Columbia, Christy Fix and husband Brad of Kalispell, Dena Doughtery and husband Toby, Sandy and Candy Mattingly, all of Fairbanks, Stephen Willett of Las Vegas, Bernette Parge of Montana, Mikki Hamilton of Ohio, Randi Sue Corcoran and husband Kenny of Fairbanks, and Melissa and Johnny Weymiller, both of Wisconsin; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean DuValle, of Arizona. Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
Lori Riggs, 51
Lori was born June 29, 1958, in Boise, Idaho, to Richard A. Mabe and Patricia Ann Mabe. Following a long battle with cancer, she died March 28, 2010, with her loving family by her side. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, and a cherished friend. Her laughter brought happiness to us all. She was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, or was just there to listen. Lori loved the outdoors, enjoying camping, fishing, hunting or just being out in the sun. Lori had a passion for cooking; something about her pies made you want to keep coming back for more. She was always ready to whip something up if someone was ever hungry. She was our rock, the glue that held our family together. Lori took pride in everything she did. Her smile and laughter will be missed by her family and all who knew her. Lori was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Ann. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, John L. Riggs; son, John T. Riggs, and wife, Amanda, and grandbabies, Jordan and Tessa; youngest son, Joseph R. Riggs; her father, Richard A. Mabe; brother, Terry Pirrong, and wife, Terra, and their family; sister, Liza Moffat, and husband, Joe, and family; sister, Linda Lyford; and many, many friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the Columbia Mortuary Chapel with interment following at Woodlawn Cemetery; a reception will immediately follow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Please come and celebrate the life she lived.
