Kalispell police took a report from a Greenbriar Drive resident of a wallet containing identification and other items, found in a trash container. At Meadow Manor Trailer Court, a wallet containing several hundred dollars, credit cards, and identification was found; its owner is currently in jail. Another wallet was returned to the mother of a boy who dropped it at Woodland Park.

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office

was called at 2:30 a.m. Monday when someone reported a Chevy truck stuck in the Flathead River at the Old Steel Bridge. When asked whether the driver needed help, he reportedly responded by saying, "You want to hear something funny?" and fired three shots at the witnesses. Not finding that funny, they called for help. The truck's front end was submerged and the engine was running when officers arrived and arrested the 34-year-old driver.

arrested a man after stopping him on suspicion of a traffic violation Monday night on Sixth Street West. Detective Lt. Roger Nasset said officer Scott McConnell pulled over Michael Ryan Parrott, 21, of Kalispell because Parrott's vehicle was missing a front license plate. Visible inside the vehicle was an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun, Nasset said. Parrott reportedly possessed marijuana, pills prescribed for someone else, and about 6 grams of methamphetamine, Nasset said. A search of the vehicle also yielded an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, Nasset said. Ownership of the guns is still in question, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was notified.

She was born to Roy Brock and Kathryn Gaertner Brook at lone, Wash., on April 3, 1926; she moved with her parents back to the family homestead on the West Kootenai in north Lincoln County. Because Dixie was bedridden with asthma for 10 months at age 6, the family placier mined gold on Wolf Creek for a short time to get her out in the sunshine. Dixie attended Lincoln County High School in Eureka, graduating from there in 1945.

Marjorie was a former resident at Buffalo Hill Terraces in Kalispell until April 30, 2006. Due to her illness, she was moved to Tucson to spend her final days in the home of her son Dennis, where she received Home Hospice Care.

The Kalispell Police Department

is investigating a theft and suspected arson fire that destroyed a black 1998 Honda CRV. The vehicle was reported stolen from Liberty Street just before 1 a.m. Tuesday. The owner said the keys had been left in the vehicle. It was found on Ashley Lake Road, "completely toasted," over an embankment. The license plate and vehicle identification number were incinerated in the fire, but the owner was able to identify it. Fire officials think the fire was intentionally set. Kalispell and Smith Valley fire departments and Montana Highway Patrol responded.

Officers investigated a complaint that they had been ogling a young girl and found that the trio was in the country illegally, working for a landscaping company in Idaho. Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement were notified about the Mexican citizens.

evacuated a day care Monday on Granite View Drive when a man in a nearby home reportedly said he had a gun and threatened to kill himself. Deputies had also responded to the home Sunday evening when the man reportedly threw his wife out of the house. He was gone when officers arrived then, but he had returned by 11 a.m. Monday, when he reportedly threatened to harm himself. Officers found him under a bed inside the home and took him into custody without trouble for a mental-health evaluation. A substance thought to be cocaine was seized.

Convicted sex offender Joseph Edward Duncan III is charged with killing a Coeur d'Alene woman, her boyfriend and her 13-year-old son. Police say that Duncan killed the three as part of his plan to kidnap two younger children - Dylan and Shasta Groene - in order to molest them. Dylan was ultimately killed, and Shasta was rescued thanks to alert strangers who had followed the extensive news coverage of the case.
