Intoxicated man 'stumbles' downtown

Officers with the Whitefish Police Departmet were unable to located an intoxicated pedestrian who was reporteldy seen on Highway 93 South. A local business manager called to report the man after he had allegedly walked into the business carrying a bottle of alcohol. When asked to leave, the man reportedly chugged the entire bottle before “stumbling” toward downtown.

Man in clown costume questioned

A passer-by on U.S. 93 South told the Whitefish Police Department that there was a man dressed in all black wearing clown makeup throwing fireworks and yelling while walking down the street. Officers located the man, who said he was dressed in costume because he was headed to a party downtown and that the fireworks were thrown by someone else.

Armed robbery suspects taken into custody

Three women were taken into custody on allegations that they stole someone’s wallet at knife point while in Polson, according to Kalispell Police Department logs. The victim called in the incident and said the suspects were traveling north in a white car with a sunroof plugged with plywood. Lake County deputies looked at security footage from Woods Bay showing the vehicle traveling north. Law enforcement eventually stopped the vehicle south of the U.S. 93 bypass and the suspects were arrested.

Greyhound, Powder River Trailways and Rimrock Trailways are several bus lines that have regular routes to the area.

V. Starling Grosswiler, 88

V. Starling Grosswiler, 88, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, in Kalispell. She was born Sept. 23, 1921, to Jimmy and Rosie Harrington on the family farm on Columbia Falls Stage. Her grandparents on both sides were early Valley settlers in the Bad Rock Canyon and Deer Park areas. She graduated from Flathead County High School in 1939. She married Paul Grosswiler on Dec. 26, 1941, and together they farmed and ran a dairy in the West Valley area. She was a hard worker that enjoyed gardening, animals, and working on the farm beside her husband. Starling was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Paul Grosswiler, who passed away in 1995; also by a sister, Hilda Beeman; brother, Jimmy Babe Harrington; and son-in-law, Larry Baier. She is survived by a son, Clinton Grosswiler, and wife, Robin; daughters, Catherine Baier, and Cindy Marvin and her husband, Shawn; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26, at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the local Humane Society, 3499 Highway 93 N., Kalispell, MT 59901. Friends may visit the Web site www.buffalohillfh.com to leave notes of condolences.
