Lights out in Whitefish
Whitefish traffic lights and bars went dark on Friday night, leaving 2,400 electricity customers without power. Downtown Whitefish went completely black at 5:54 p.m., and the electricity was out until about 8:10 p.m., according to Wendy Ostrom-Price, public relations with Flathead Electric. The outage was caused by an equipment failure at their main Whitefish station, which feeds all distribution. The failure took two hours to repair. Several brief power outages took place in the surrounding area during the repairs.
