Grammy winner Gretchen Wilson to perform at fair

Multi-platinum Nashville recording artist Gretchen Wilson will perform at the 2019 Northwest Montana Fair & Rodeo in Kalispell on Aug. 14. The 2019 Northwest Montana Fair & Rodeo is scheduled for Aug. 14-18 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds with a theme of “Capture Montana’s Best Days of Summer.” Tickets for the Wilson concert and all other Grandstand events are now available for purchase online and at the fairgrounds office.

James Arneson Myers, 66

James Arneson Myers, 66, passed away on Friday, Apr. 30, 2010, at his home in Pullman, Wash. Jim was born in Kalispell Nov. 28, 1943, to Violet Teresa Arneson and James Ray Myers. When Jim was born, his father was serving overseas in the United States Navy during World War II. Father and son did not meet for two years. Jim was 5 when his brother Kenneth was born in 1948 and they were young playmates. Jim spent his childhood and youth in Kalispell with the exception of a few years in Missoula where his father taught school. Jim graduated from Flathead County High School in 1961. After graduating, he attended Northern Montana College in Havre and later graduated with both a bachelor s and master s of education from the University of Idaho in 1969. Upon earning his bachelor s degree in 1967, he taught distributive education at Pullman High School until the program was discontinued, and then went on to teach English, math and driver s education. Jim retired from teaching in 1989 due to heath complications. Jim married Linda Robertson Aug. 18, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple. Four children, Gordon, Tamara, Brett and Tonja became the Myers family, his proudest accomplishment. Jim enjoyed backpacking, canoeing and fishing in his healthier years. Lionel trains were his passion and he enjoyed being a member of the Palouse Empire Rail Society. Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife, Linda; and his four children, Gordon and wife, Lisa, of Coeur d Alene, Idaho, Tamara Hill and husband, Blake, of Hillsboro, Ore., Brett and wife, Darcell, of Pullman, Wash., and Tonja Janette and husband, Jay, of Seattle. He is also survived by 12 beautiful grandchildren, and his brother, Kenneth, and wife, Karen, of Havre. The funeral service will be held today, May 5, at the Pullman Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman is caring for the family. Robert Oscar Bob Myhre, 82

Robert Oscar Bob Myhre, 82, of Manhattan, Kan., died Nov. 23, 2010, at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. He was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Polson, the son of Oscar Ludwick and Orpha (Roof) Myhre. He graduated from Polson High School in 1946. Bob joined the United States Army Air Corps and later transferred to the United States Air Force when it was formed. He served for 20 years and retired in May of 1966 at the rank of Tech Sergeant. He had served with the 55th Armt Electronics and Maintenance Squadron at SAC and with the 53rd Weather REC. SQ. in Burtonwood, England. He had received the Good Conduct Medal with five knots, National Defense Service Medal, USAF NCO PME Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He moved to Manhattan in 1968 and worked for Federal Civil Services at Fort Riley for more than 20 years as an electrician with DEH. Mr. Myhre was a member of the Church of England, National Rifle Association, Army Air Force Association and the Sergeant's Association. On Nov. 23, 1957, in Swinton, Manchester, England, he was married to Barbara Lambert. He is survived by Mrs. Myhre of Manhattan; two daughters, Debra Myhre-Miller and husband, Bernie, of San Diego, and Arlene Myhre-Kubista and husband, Frank, of Manhattan; and two granddaughters, Montana Myhre Kubista and Olivia Lea Kubista. Mr. Myhre was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, George Myhre, John Myhre, and Jake Myhre; and sisters, Helga Myhre Blackwell and Margreate Myhre Foot. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec.1, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel with Father Don Zimmerman officiating. Interment with Air Force Military Honors will follow at the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery at Fort Riley.
