Rose Irene Tucker, 96, 'has gone home to be with her departed husband, Eugene C. Tucker and her Lord and Savior.' Irene was a recent resident of the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, where she died in her sleep on July 16, 2007.

Hazel C. Stensland, 93
Hazel C. Stensland, 93, passed away on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at her residence in Kila. She was born April 10, 1916, out in a homestead shack by a midwife in Stanley, N.D., to John and Olga Anderson. When Hazel was 20 years old she married Hebert Hooper and moved to Jamestown, N.Y. She got a job as a nanny. She had two children, Sherman and Betty. Later she left Hebert and went back to Stanley. She met and married Nels in Sidney in 1944. They moved to Seattle during World War II to work for Boeing where she was a riveter. When the war was over they looked for a farm in Montana. They looked all over Montana and finally settled in Kalispell. They purchased a place south of town where they lived from 1947 through 1954. In 1953 they bought acreage near Kila and moved 16 head of cattle onto it. They drove up every day to milk and feed the cattle. They separated the milk and then sold the cream. Hazel raised cattle from 1953 to 2008. During that time she was a cook and manager of the Cadillac Hotel Restaurant. She also loved gardening, fishing, huckleberry picking and canning. She was a member of the Eagles. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nels, in 1966; a daughter, Betty Baker; three brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Sherman Hooper of Kalispell, and Daniel Stensland and wife, Margie, of Kila; seven grandchildren, Cindy, Peggy, Jerry, Daniel, Steven, John and Gary; nine great-grandchildren; and one very special great-great-grandson, Colton. Funeral services for Hazel will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Burial will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Hazel s family. Earl C. 'Duke' Willey, 89
Earl C. Duke Willey, 89, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born on May 11, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa, to William E. and Florence (Rassmussen) Willey. Duke graduated from Flathead County High School in 1939. He owned and operated Duke Hamburger Inn in Kalispell until 1940. In 1944, during World War II, he served in the South Pacific and was discharged in 1946. He then joined the Montana Army National Guard in 1948. He was always proud that he joined the military as a buck private and served every enlisted rank through master sergeant until being commissioned a second lieutenant in 1951. He retired an artillery major in 1973. During this time Duke owned a mercantile store in Dayton, where he also served as Justice of the Peace from 1951 to 1954. He was also a pioneer in the law enforcement field, serving as a deputy sheriff for Flathead County and as provost marshal for the Montana National Guard from 1957 to 1959. He was a senior staff probation officer at the Montana State Prison, an adult probation officer, a regional executive director and adviser for the Montana Board of Crime Control and security officer during the Gulf War. Duke retired again in 1982 but continued assisting in law enforcement efforts. Duke was preceded in death by his wife Frances Patty in 1997 and one brother, Loren B. Willey, in 1997. He is survived by three daughters, Laurie Anne Pahl of St. Paul, Mo., Marilee Willey of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Nancy Ellen Mori of Missoula; one son, Lloyd William Willey, of Berkeley, Calif.; two grandsons; four beautiful granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren; as well as one brother, Lloyd Vernon Willey. Graveside services for Duke will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Johnson Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Duke s family.

Leo B. Arbuckle 80, was born Sept. 10, 1933, in Conrad to Hugh C. and Evelyn Arbuckle. Hugh C. was a packer and guide. He raised sheep at the ranch at Swift Dam. Leo’s sister joined the family on Nov. 2, 1934.
