The Flathead Braves wrestling team finished a stellar season this year by capturing the AA State Championship. Seven Braves made it to the final round, surpassing records and ultimately winning the title that they had won in 2004. Before 2004, the last time the Braves were state champs was in 1973.

Mary E. Walters, 97
Mary E. (McLean) Walters, 97, passed away May 25, 2010, at Heritage Place in Kalispell, of natural causes. She was born April 16, 1913, in eastern Montana and raised in the Chinook and Havre areas. On May 28, 1931, she married Cort B. Walters, and they moved to the Flathead Valley. Mary was a homemaker in the Birch Grove area and was a longtime member of the Birch Grove Willing Workers. She was known for her kindness, her generosity, baking, sewing, and making the best out of little. Mary will be loved and missed, but can now rest in peace. She was preceded in death by her parents, Duncan and Emma McLean; her husband of 55 years, Cort B. Walters; an infant daughter, RoseMary; sisters, Margaret Hanson and Jesse Frank; and brother, Alfred McLean. Mary is survived by her daughter, Carol, and children, Courtney and Robert; daughter, Sandra, and John, and children, John, James, Daniel and Susan; son, Oran, and Vicki, and child, Cory; brother, Sandy, of Havre; and many nieces and nephews in Montana, California and Washington. A private burial will be held today, Thursday, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell. Memorials may be made to the donor s choice; or just do a good deed for someone and think of Mary " She would like that.
