Kalispell police arrested five teenagers Tuesday for open container and possession of alcohol. One of them was also arrested for providing the alcohol. They were pulled over after another driver saw them driving down U.S. 93 throwing beer cans out the window and called police.

A bronze statue of two heroic-sized white-tailed deer is being installed this week at the northwest corner of U.S. 93 and U.S. 2 in Kalispell.

were receiving a report of a reckless driver on U.S. 93 South on Sunday afternoon when suddenly the caller exclaimed, "Look at the moose!" Excited children's voices in the background accompanied the explanation of the moose running down the middle of the highway. That was the end of the reckless driver report.

Kalispell police

Kalispell police arrested a man Monday morning for forgery after he was chased down by the Mountain West Bank vice president and a customer. Travis Kroemer, 21, of Kalispell, allegedly tried to cash a $900 check but ended up running until he was chased down. He is being held at the Flathead County jail until his initial court appearance.

Early morning traffic crawls through the construction zone on U.S. 93 near Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish on Tuesday. According to Marc Blanden, chief estimator for Schellinger Construction, crews are working on the “milestone” section of the job that runs from Karrow Avenue to Fairway Drive. Blanden expects retaining walls to be complete by Nov. 10 and for paving to begin next week. Blanden said crew will shut down for the winter on Nov. 15 and begin again in April. The entire project is expected to wrap up in July 2015.

Several vehicles slid off Flathead County roads in nasty weather Tuesday evening. Authorities were called to help motorists at the intersection of Kila Road and Smith Lake Road, on Pleasant Valley Road, Blanchard Lake Road, and Berne Creek Road. Vehicles also had trouble getting up a hill on Columbia Falls Stage Road near River Road. No one was injured.

Flathead County sheriff's deputies responded to a South Cedar Drive residence after a 19-year-old man got into an argument with his aunt and her boyfriend. The altercation, which reportedly began because the man was calling his aunt names and being generally unkind, escalated until he allegedly threatened the couple with a knife. The man's aunt agreed not to press charges if he collected his belongings and left. However, he returned to the residence about an hour later and another disturbance ensued. This time, the man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a weapon, trespass, and disorderly conduct.

Alma Ruth Simon, 93, who passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, was born July 18, 1922, to Katherine and George Zeiler in Billings. Her early years were spent farming along the Yellowstone River with her large family, and she retained fond memories of those years, recounting a simple, rewarding life that kept food on the table and spirits up throughout the Depression.
