Dana A. Gonser, 40

Army veteran and former Kalispell resident Sgt. Dana A. Gonser, 40, of Fowler, Ind., died April 15, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, as a result of injuries received in a car/motorcycle accident in Fowler. Funeral services with full Masonic and military honors were held in Oxford, Ind., with burial in Mound Cemetery in Pine Village, Ind. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn; two daughters, Ember D. and Hailey N. Gonser, of Fowler; stepdaughter, Kassie R. Smith, of Lafayette, Ind.; and his parents, James E. and Cynthia L. Gonser, of Kalispell. Dana was born Oct. 17, 1969, in Billings, where he graduated from Billings Senior High School. He attended ITT in Phoenix, and received his associate s degree in drafting and architectural design, as well as graduating from various military training classes. He lived in Billings, Butte, Great Falls and Kalispell before moving to Fowler in 2006. Mr. Gonser served as a unit administrator for the 209th Quartermaster Co., stationed in Lafayette, and held the rank of sergeant in the Army Reserves. He spent five years on active duty with the Army at Fort Lewis, Wash., and served in Iraq from February 2002 until April 2003 with the 889th Unit of the 101st Airborne Division. He married Kathryn A. Toy in Kalispell on Dec. 10, 2001. He was a loving husband and devoted father of two daughters, Ember, age 7, and Hailey, age 6. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bigfork. Victor I. Chambers, 87

Victor I. Chambers, 87, of Anniston, Ala., passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. A native of Sidney, Neb., Victor was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member, had been a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, where he served as a past president of the local chapter, was a member of the United Ostomy Association, and the BPOE Lodge 725 in Kalispell. He was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Chambers; a son, Charles Chambers; daughters, Linda Dispense and Stephanie Watts; stepchildren, Robert Albreaux, Jeannette Cantrell, Caroline Eloe, Kathryn Schaad, Thomas Albro and Marcus Albreaux; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Florence Van Aelstyn and Billie Kennedy Watts; a daughter, Donna Knudson; a grandson, Anthony Dispense; and brothers, Arthur, Charles and William Chambers. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Anniston, with Father Bryan Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, Neb. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 26, at the church. Walter Lyle Jones, 84

Walter Lyle Jones, 84, of Polson passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at his home in Polson. He was born Sept. 30, 1925, at LaPorte, Ind., to Harry and Jeanatte Mills Jones. He attended and graduated from Flathead County High School, and served in the Army with a Field Artillery Battalion from January 1944 through Feb. 26, 1946. After his discharge, he returned to Kalispell and married Winnifred Cleo Bauer in Kalispell. Walter worked in the logging industry most of his life. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Polson, and loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family. His parents, Harry and Jeanatte Jones; sisters, Janice Heise, Ada Leach and Dorothy Yeager; along with brothers, Gary, Don, Dick and Roy Jones, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Winnifred Winnie Jones, at the family home; a daughter, Julie Paul and Rich of Polson; sons, Jeffery Jones and Debbie, and Randy Jones and Monica, both of Polson, and Kevin Jones and Cheryl of Missoula; brothers, Harry of Kalispell, Rex of Whitefish and Ron of Martin City; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 3, in the First United Methodist Church in Polson, with the Rev. Mark Calhoun officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date. Public education system is failing our youth

William A. Jensen, 75

Our world lost one of the good guys … William A. Jensen, 75, mercifully passed away at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula from a horrible lung disease on July 4, 2017, after keeping it at bay for many years. He didn’t let it slow him down until the last few months. A friend said recently that he lived large and globally while still appreciating the simple pleasures of family, friends, mud, and nature. In the early hours of July 6, much of Montana felt a 5.8 earthquake. We’re sure it was Bill saying farewell, and wishing Carole a happy birthday.
