Gordon Arthur Conrad, 84

Gordon Arthur Conrad, 84, passed away June 7, 2010, in Kalispell. He was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Kalispell to Ed and Alma Conrad. He received his elementary education at Kila School and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1944. On June 5, 1949, he married Irene Harders in Rochester, Minn., and he and Irene spent their life on the family ranches west of Kalispell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Alma; his brother, Edwin; his wife, Irene; grandson, Cody; and numerous other relatives. He is survived by three children, Larry, Lee and LouAnn, and their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At Gordon s request, graveside services for friends and family will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 11, at Glacier Memorial Gardens, Highway 93 North, Kalispell. Refreshments and luncheon will follow the services, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The Kalispell Fire Department had 13 calls. One was to a vehicle accident on Airport Road that resulted in an injury. A man reported lying in the street on Liberty Road couldn't be found Tuesday night. A person suffering a medical problem at the post office went to the hospital. On Wednesday morning, a car-versus-dump truck collision near the landfill on U.S. 93 resulted in five injuries. None were thought to be critical; the Whitefish ambulance was needed to transport two patients. The West Valley Fire Department and Highway Patrol were also there. Another accident on U.S. 2 near Western Building Center resulted in no injuries; the Evergreen Fire Department and highway patrol were also there.

Flathead County Sheriff's Office took a call Tuesday from a business on U.S. 93 in Lakeside where a twisted wordsmith has struck. Letters on a reader board have been rearranged to form obscene messages. The owner has brought the reader board inside after too many unauthorized late-night compositions with the letters.

The Kalispell Fire Department went to a vehicle accident with injuries during rush hour Friday afternoon on North Meridian Road and U.S. 93. The ambulance was needed when a man hurt his leg on new steps at Hedges School and when someone at the airport suffered a medical problem. Kalispell and Evergreen fire departments went to an accident with injuries near Super 1 on U.S. 2 on Thursday. The departments went to a rollover accident near Tri City Quick Stop that also resulted in injuries. Kalispell and Creston fire departments were needed when a man fell from a ladder onto concrete on Lake Blaine Drive Friday.

'd1 he responded in the negative. He then moved on to another store and ultimately was given a ride home by concerned Kalispell police.

LETTER: Driver shares thoughts about 'sharing the road'

On Wednesday, Aug. 19, I was driving south on U.S. 93 to the Toyota dealership. Road conditions were dry and visibility only slightly impaired by smoke. There was only light traffic and I was not distracted in any way.
