Genevieve E. Garner, 93

Genevieve E. Garner, 93, of Kalispell, died Dec. 1, 2009, at home with her best friend, Belinda Jones, at her side. Gen was born Oct. 19, 1916, in Duluth, Minn., to Raymond Jacob and Hazel Irene Cronquist. Gen married James Jim A. Garner on Oct. 8, 1945. They moved to Newport Beach, Calif., in 1946 and lived in the same house until they moved to Kila in 1983. While in California in 1951 they had their one and only son, James Raymond Garner, affectionately known as J.R. Gen and Jim loved living in Montana and their home in Kila. They both loved animals and had a horse named Moose and at least a half a dozen cats. That is how Gen became close friends with Belinda, when she would take her cats in at Kila for medical care where Belinda worked. When Gen s husband James died on Sept. 30 of 1989 she moved into Kalispell on Meridian Street where she could still keep her special horse, Moose. She lived there until 2005 when Moose passed on and it was just too much for Gen to keep up. She enjoyed her new home at Meadow Manor and the friendly neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Jacob and Hazel Irene Cronquist; her husband, James A. Garner; and their only son, James Raymond Garner, on Oct. 31, 2006. She leaves behind two loving sisters, Betty Mattix of Stephenville, Texas, and Jacqueline R. Mesna of Costa Mesa, Calif.; three grandchildren, Sydney Garner, Adrienne Garner and Morgan Garner; and six nieces. No services are planned at this time.
