James 'Jim' Beacher McKnight, 84

James "Jim" Beacher McKnight, 84, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at his home surrounded by his wife of 58 years and his four children. He was born on May 28, 1922, in Hilger, just outside of Lewistown, the son of the late Fred and Ada (Porter) McKnight. Jim graduated from Lewistown High School in 1940. He worked for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif., before entering the U.S. Navy in 1942.

The White House resisted the idea and tried to tamp down fear as the pool of Americans being monitored for symptoms expanded to Ohio.

No way around it. Kalispell public schools are in a difficult situation. Federal and state support has decreased but the needs of our schools and students have increased. We have more students, higher costs, expanded needs. Our schools simply can’t “do more with less,” and our administration has already examined our budget in minute detail to find any possible savings. We’ve reached the point there aren’t any additional dollars to cut without our entire community feeling the effects.

Gary Lee Hoxmer, 70

Gary Lee Hoxmer, 70, passed away at Kalispell Regional Medical Center on Oct. 18, 2010. Gary was born April 8, 1940, in Jordan, to Gilbert and June Hoxmer. He graduated from Flathead County High School in 1958. Gary enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in December 1962. He worked for his father-in-law and learned all aspects of sign manufacturing, including the art of blowing neon glass. Gary married Jeanette Therrien on Aug. 14, 1958, at St. Matthew s Catholic Church in Kalispell. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in August of this year. Gary and his brother-in-law bought the business after the death of his father-in-law. Gary loved bowling, lake trout fishing, playing craps in Las Vegas, playing pool and telling his famous Chinese joke. His lawn has been described by many as looking like velvet. Gary s health forced him to retire in 1998. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and June Hoxmer; and daughter, Laurie Hoxmer. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; son, Steve Hoxmer, of Las Vegas; daughter, Valerie Goss, and husband, Duke, of Kalispell; and grandsons, Colter and Bridger Goss. Gary Sallee was born on Feb. 6 of 1940 in Bozeman, Montana to Eldon Sallee and Fern Bergen. Early on in Gary’s life his parents, along with his younger brother Darrell Sallee, moved to Edmonds, Washington. Gary spent the better half of his childhood roaming the towns of Edmonds and Everett, fishing on the docks, and living around the sea life. Gary always enjoyed the water and everything that encompassed the sea. Gary had a liking for any type of wildlife; not only did he like to hunt and fish and harvest wild game he also loved raising fish, pheasant, squirrels and chickens. As life progressed Gary found that he had a talent for sports; football seemed to be the sport that he excelled at the most. After high school Gary joined the military and became an Army ranger and played football for the Army as well. While in the military, Gary met his first wife Sandy and had three kids, Jeff, Rory and Stacey. Gary was married to Sandy for a short number of years. After the military Gary worked in construction throughout the Seattle area, working on anything from single story structures to high rise buildings. Gary also continued his football career playing for the Seattle Rangers, and somewhere in the busy life he found time to get qualified in flying single engine aircraft.
