Council to consider 50-acre RV park
The Kalispell City Council will meet Tuesday following the long Labor Day weekend to further discuss and likely hold a vote on a proposal for a 50-acre, 330-space Montana Base Camp Recreational Vehicle Park in South Kalispell.

Elinor “Ellie” Buchanan was born in Moose, Wyoming, on Jan. 9, 1925, to Roger Frederick Carlson and Lauretta Marie Sensenbach Carlson. The family soon moved to California and then returned to Moose and Jackson, Wyoming, in 1931. Later they moved to Rock Springs, where Ellie graduated from high school in 1942.

Kalispell Police Department officers arrested a man outside a bar on North Meridian Road after he allegedly threw a pint glass at another man. The glass struck the man’s head, causing it to bleed.
Lora Arvilla Turner, 95
Lora Arvilla Turner, 95, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at the Heritage Place in Kalispell. She was born on Jan. 6, 1915, in North Carolina, the daughter of Charlie and Josie Faw. She and her family moved to Hardin when she was a child of 2. In 1934, she married R.G. Turner. They lived in Hardin until 1946, when they moved their family to Bigfork, and then in 1956 they moved to Kalispell. They spent many enjoyable hours together camping under the big skies of Montana. Arvilla loved working in her garden growing flowers. She was a very accomplished flower arranger and provided the Kalispell Senior Center with flowers for their tables for many years, therefore gaining her nickname The Flower Lady. Arvilla loved Montana, and once here, she lived 93 years and did not want to live anywhere else. Arvilla was preceded in death by her husband, R.G. Turner; a son, Lloyd M. Turner; her parents, Charlie and Josie Faw; a sister, Mary McLaughlin; and a brother, Lloyd Faw. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Nicholas, and daughter-in-law, Norma Turner, both of Kalispell; grandchildren, Melissa Yarde and Darin Turner, both of Kalispell, Michelle Santos of Guayanbo, Puerto Rico, Julie Reichmann of Galt, Calif.; and 10 great-grandchildren. Kalispell police took a report of an abandoned vehicle parked at Asian Auto that appeared to have a dead animal inside. The business owner pledged to move the rig. It did have a deer and elk leg in it but, interestingly, no smell around it.

An older man with a gray beard ran out of a store on U.S. 93 South without paying for an unknown item. As he got into a car and sped off, a bag of what appeared to marijuana fell out into the parking lot. Kalispell police are investigating.

First, Kalispell police went to a 4:06 a.m. call that a stranger knocked on the door at 157 Sherwood Lane, prompting neighborhood dog-barking. Then they went to a 4:09 a.m. call at 160 Sherwood Lane about somebody trying to enter through a back window. When the resident opened a door, he heard a man yell to a vehicle out front, then take off crashing through the bushes. The intruder left the back gate open.
It's time for answers on fuel leak
Two years is a long time to go without answers when it comes to water quality in the Flathead Valley. Yet that's exactly what has happened with a gasoline seep into the Whitefish River near the bridge on U.S. 93.
