MISSOULA — Whitefish junior Coral Schulz won the Missoula Invitational for the second straight season, her first win as a Bulldog, on Tuesday at Canyon River Golf Club. Flathead’s Ryan Keenan finished second in the boys’ meet, tying for the best score but losing in a scorecard playoff.

Woman reports snowball assault
A caller told the Whitefish Police Department she was assaulted on U.S. 93 South by a man who allegedly threw a snowball at her face. She added that the unknown man and the rest of the group he was hanging out with appeared to be drunk, including the driver of the car. Everyone involved had moved on before officers arrived.
Confusion over storage-unit use
The Whitefish Police Department received a call from a storage-unit facility, claiming that a renter may have been staying in one of the units.
Partying Canadians on the roof
Someone called Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report a “vacation rental by owner” on U.S. 93 South had a group of Canadian guests who were making a racket and one morning there were allegedly eight to 10 people on the roof “clanging beer cans and blaring music.” The caller said they went over to ask them to keep it down and the group “seemed to agree,” but hadn’t “toned it down.”
Olney-Bissell student struck by vehicle as she exited school bus
A 6-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle and sustained injuries after school on Tuesday as she was getting off the school bus just west of Whitefish on U.S. 93.

Snow over icy roads at just the wrong temperatures brought on a rash of accidents for Flathead County sheriff's deputies in the hour shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. On Montana 40 at Trumble Creek Road, and on U.S. 93 at Happy Valley, there were two slide-ins without injuries. But there were injuries in crashes elsewhere - between two vehicles at Whitefish Stage and White Bark Lane, three vehicles on U.S. 2 near A-1 Paving, two vehicles on U.S. 2 near Jagz restaurant, and two more vehicles on U.S. 2 at Walsh Road.
Injured dog returned to owner after fall
Flathead County Sheriff's deputies said a woman took a yellow lab home after she saw it fall out the back of a truck on U.S. 93. The dog, which sustained only minor injuries, was later reunited with its owner.

The Kalispell Police Department was busy with people sleeping around town. Unacceptable sleep sites included an area near the restrooms at Depot Park, on the boulevard by Cogar's Coffee on U.S. 93, and in a vehicle on Seventh Avenue West.
Private eye not so private anymore
Someone called Kalispell police about a suspicious vehicle on Second Avenue West North. Turns out it was a private investigator on surveillance.

Flathead County sheriff's deputies handled a spate of traffic accidents on slippery road surfaces on U.S. 93 and U.S. 2 Thursday evening.
Kalispell police arrested an 18-year-old man suspected for burglary after a traffic stop on Flathead Drive. The case is still under investigation.
