Thomas Lawrence 'Tom' Hennes, 54

Thomas Lawrence "Tom" Hennes passed away peacefully in the company of friends early Saturday morning, Aug. 20, 2005, in Kalispell. He was 54. Tom contracted a rare form of skin cancer in January of this year. After the most formidable strides to overcome his illness, Tom's physical self could no longer match his fervent desire to live on.

Whitefish police took a complaint from a woman about people harassing her on Somers Avenue.

Flathead County Sheriff

Flathead County Sheriff's Office answered a 911 call Thursday afternoon from U.S. 2 in Hungry Horse. The caller hung up, but a dispatcher dialed back and left a message that officers were on their way and that the caller should call back immediately. He did call back to say he had hit a bicycle and thought there was a person on it, so he called 911. When he realized there was no one on the bike, he hung up.

Flathead County Sheriff

Deputies with the Flathead County Sheriff's Office went to a domestic problem at a home where a woman said a man slapped her and knocked her down. Officer found evidence to the contrary and arrested her. Both people were cited in a domestic disturbance on Meadowlark Drive. Yelling and screaming was reported at Alpine Inn. Other disturbances were reported in the jail, on Stoner Creek Road and on Harbin Hill Road.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police took custody of a man arrested in Whitefish on a Columbia Falls warrant.

Donation puts skate park over the top

A $50,000 donation from businessman Michael Goguen has wrapped up fund-raising for the new Whitefish skateboard park and will enable a second phase of the facility to be completed this fall.
