The Montana Department of Transportation issued a warning Monday to drivers on Northwest Montana highways. Snow and ice covered U.S. 2 from the Idaho border to Marion as snowfall severely reduced visibility on U.S. 93 from Stryker to the Canadian border. Three to six inches of snow an hour were falling on Montana 37 north of Libby Monday afternoon, prompting the department to issue a warning about severe driving conditions.

When asked to leave, the woman allegedly assaulted an employee. The woman - who reportedly had a medical condition - was taken to the hospital, where she was ticketed in connection with trespass, assault, and disorderly conduct.

Agnes was a member and former Sunday school teacher at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed making and sewing her children's clothes. She loved doing art and was very talented in oil painting, watercolor, pastels and china painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Knapp.She is survived by her two daughters, Betty Steer of Antioch, Calif., and Dolores Lynch of Phoenix; one son, Keith Knapp, of Antioch, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren. He was last seen at about 5 p.m.; his disappearance was reported to police shortly after 9 p.m. At about midnight, the man was discovered safe at his Browns Meadow Road residence - he'd hitched a ride home.

Just as the Flathead County Sheriff's Office was getting a report from an 83-year-old woman having severe chest pains, a car crashed into the front yard of her home on Swan River Road in the Bigfork area early Friday morning. The Montana Highway Patrol investigated, finding that the driver fled the scene. The woman was taken by Bigfork Ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, and later in the morning, a man called from a residence on Swan Hall Road to report the crashed vehicle had been stolen.

Several vehicles slid off Flathead County roads in nasty weather Tuesday evening. Authorities were called to help motorists at the intersection of Kila Road and Smith Lake Road, on Pleasant Valley Road, Blanchard Lake Road, and Berne Creek Road. Vehicles also had trouble getting up a hill on Columbia Falls Stage Road near River Road. No one was injured.
