Alex 'Alec' Nixon Ogilvie, 83, died peacefully March 23, 2008, at the V.A. Nursing Home in Sheridan, Wyo. Alec was born on Oct. 1, 1924, in a tar paper shack near Cohagen, Mont. He was the second youngest of seven children born to Alexander and Cuma Ogilvie. It was a hard-scrabble country that favored the hard and the strong. In 1936, Cuma moved to Greeley, Colo., where Alec attended school. He graduated high school in 1942.

Whitefish police arrested three people at a home on Baker Avenue Sunday after someone reported that noise from inside the house was loud enough to hear from outside. When police responded, they discovered five people who had been drinking but three of them refused to cooperate. A 14-year-old Whitefish girl was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol and disorderly conduct, a 35-year-old Oregon man for disorderly conduct, and a 38-year-old California woman for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

A man and a 10-year-old boy canoeing on the Flathead River near Lybecks Dike capsized Wednesday evening. The boy made it to the bank himself, but it was the bank opposite authorities. Flathead County sheriff's deputies responded to a Harmony Road residence after a woman called to report that her 39-year-old boyfriend was trying to drive under the influence of drugs. He left the scene, but came back after deputies had departed and kicked down the door. Deputies also returned and arrested the man on suspicion of partner assault, for allegedly choking his girlfriend, and tampering with a communication device for allegedly throwing the woman's cell phone into the yard.
Driver injured in rollover accident
Three passing motorists watch over an injured man until help arrives at the scene of a one-car accident Wednesday on U.S. 93 near Happy Valley. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the 28-year-old driver was southbound in a Chevrolet Trailblazer at about 4:30 p.m. when veered off the road, overcorrected, and rolled across the northbound lanes of traffic. The driver, who was thrown from the vehicle, was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. He was the car's only occupant. What caused the man to lose control of the vehicle is under investigation. Tickets are pending, the patrol said.

Alma Sederdahl Edwards, 81, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the Immanuel Lutheran Nursing Home in Kalispell.
Alma had formerly resided in Libby for over 60 years. She was born at Hettinger, N.D., on Jan. 26, 1927, to Floyd and Agnes Sederdahl. The family spent the next years on the family homestead on the North Fork of the Grand River in Perkins County, S.D. In 1936, the family moved to McCone City, Mont., during the construction of the Fort Peck Dam, along with other families from the Dakotas; in December 1938 the family moved to their cabin on Pinkham Creek near Eureka.
Whitefish 'won't tolerate' doughnut divorce
If Flathead County decides on Thursday to sever its interlocal agreement with Whitefish for the two-mile "doughnut" planning area, the city won't recognize the action, Whitefish City Attorney John Phelps said.

When they returned home to Montana, Paul took a teaching and coaching position in Ronan while Dorrene worked in the Lake County Extension office. Dorrene lost Paul much too early to cancer in 1967.
