The Blankenship Fire Department and later the Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to a garage on fire on North Fork Road, two miles above the Ford Cabin near Polebridge, about 9:15 Monday night. The garage, which was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene, was a total loss. A large propane tank was also engulfed. It didn't blow, but firefighters were forced to allow it to vent all night and into Tuesday.

While pursuing a driver whose vehicle had hit another vehicle in an Evergreen parking lot, Flathead County sheriff's deputies discovered the car he was driving had been reported stolen in Kalispell earlier that day. The 17-year-old driver led deputies on a chase through Evergreen, and when he reached a dead end on Capistrano Drive, he fled on foot. Deputies caught him quickly and arrested the youth on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and eluding arrest.

Henry James Erwin, 24, of Rome, Ga., and also of Whitefish, Alaska and anywhere else he collected rocks, died on Sept. 21, 2007. He passed at his place of residence in Rome where family, friends, and even strangers were always warmly welcome.
Kalispell
An older man with a gray beard ran out of a store on U.S. 93 South without paying for an unknown item. As he got into a car and sped off, a bag of what appeared to marijuana fell out into the parking lot. Kalispell police are investigating.

Alarms
ALERT and Marion ambulance responded to a one car wreck on U.S. 2 near the dump. The car was found upside down with two people inside. One was taken by private vehicle to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. A third person reportedly fled from the scene.

If you're a bunch of youths illegally drinking booze, don't be obnoxiously loud about it.
An early Sunday morning noise complaint on the 1300 block of Fourth Avenue West led to Kalispell police ticketing three 19-year-old men, two 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old woman. A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being the sole legal adult at the drinking party.
Fire Department
The Smith Valley Fire Department responded Saturday afternoon to some illegal burning of debris on Rogers Lake Road .
Flathead County
Tires on several vehicles were slashes at the Hilltop Bar's parking lot in Marion early Sunday morning, the Flathead County Sheriff's Office said.
Today
3 Jewel Basin Road, Forest Road No. 5392, will be closed today until about 5 p.m. for maintenance work by the Flathead National Forest. All vehicles in parking lot and along road must be removed by 6 a.m. Call Hungry Horse District at 387-3800.
