Darlene Ramsey was born Darlene Annette Tuscher in Grand Rapids, South Dakota, on July 10, 1939. There she grew up with her parents, Felix and Doris, older brother Calvin and younger sister Phyllis. Upon the sudden passing of her father, the remaining family moved to Kalispell. They lived on the farm with their grandfather while attending school in town at St. Matthew’s Catholic School. Doris soon married Arthur Gilbertson, and with his family, they all built a house in town. Darlene attended Flathead County High School and graduated 1957.

Benson has won top honors in three of the Mack Days Tournaments and been in the top five in 15 of them. Mack Days is a biannual fishing tournament that takes place weekends in the spring and fall. Carol Lynn Nicholson, 62, was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on July 8, 1952, the only child to parents Melvin A. “Nick” and Grace (Sommerville) Nicholson. Early in life she found sports, beginning with bowling on a Saturday morning league at the age of 8, playing summer league softball before her high school years, and powderpuff football as a junior in high school. After graduating from Clarksville High School in 1970, she raced stock cars for two summers at the local track there in Jeffersonville.
